Curiosity takes me places. Photography tells the story.

I’m Daren Frankish, a photographer, writer and documentary storyteller based in Edinburgh. My interests have taken me from the streets of London and Edinburgh to places further afield, exploring architecture, history, culture and the people who bring a place to life.

I’m drawn to subjects with character: the bold lines of Brutalist architecture, the atmosphere of a live performance, the engineering of a bridge or the quiet details of a historic building. Sometimes a photograph stands on its own; sometimes it becomes the starting point for an article, a book or a documentary.

European Media is my independent photography and journalism project, bringing these interests together through original images, reporting, reviews and films. This website is a place to explore that work and follow the stories behind it.
